The Nokia C6 is Nokia’s latest mid-range handset. It looks a lot like the Nokia N97 Mini, and also has a lot of the same features. We’ve been trying out the Nokia C6’s 5-Megapixel camera – join us after the break to see the results…
Just like the Nokia N97 Mini, the Nokia C6 features a 5-Megapixel camera. Unlike its sibling, the C6 does without Carl Zeiss optics, however, in a bid to keep costs down. Does this affect quality? Read on to find out.
We’ve always been big fans of the camera on the Nokia N97 Mini – it may not have a huge megapixel count, but with Carl Zeiss optics and autofocus it’s been more than capable enough to see off rivals with cameras that are, on paper, better.
Things get off to a good start with the Nokia C6, with the autofocus proving just as quick as its sibling – simply press the shutter button on the side half way down to focus.
The Nokia C6 is capable of focusing to within a couple of inches, and we found it was particularly good in bright conditions. Transfer the images to a laptop, and first impressions are favourable.
Viewed at screen size – without cropping or zooming in – and images are bright, colourful and detailed. Some colours are a little oversaturated, but for use on Facebook, to capture your mates or for creating a desktop or standard sized photographs, the Nokia C6 is pretty impressive.
Cropped up close, and the differences between the Nokia N97 Mini and the Nokia C6 become noticeable, with the Carl Zeiss optics making themselves apparent.
Digital noise is more of an issue on the Nokia C6, with some images also looking pixelated. The results are still reasonable, and the Nokia C6 is worth the saving if you’re looking for more casual use and unlikely to crop into photographs. Otherwise, however, the Nokia N97 Mini is worth spending that little extra.
