Ovi Store Game: Maya Bubbles review

Ovi Store Game: Maya Bubbles review Maya Bubbles is an addictive Ovi Store game that harnesses the power of touch to get you bubble busting. It sounds generic, and it is, but it's good simple fun. Read our Maya Bubbles review to find out more.

Like so many games of its type the aim is to match a group of at least three bubbles to pop and score points from. Bubbles not attached to anything also drop down.

It's simple stuff. Starting the game you'll see a congregation of coloured bubbles at the top of the screen and a single coloured bubble below. That's the bubble you must aim at those up top. But where it gets slightly trickier is that you only have a limited allocation of bubbles per level, meaning later on, when things get trickier you'll have to think carefully about where to aim your next shot. Thankfully each popped bubble gives you an extra bubble.

A handy icon at the bottom also tells you which colour is coming out next, letting you develop your own bubble bursting strategy. Also there to lend a helping hand are bombs to let you burst any colour at will, and a rainbow ball to pop multiple bubbles simultaneously. You shoot the bubbles by tapping where you want them to land, but a handy trick is to touch at the edges of your Nok's screen (we used an N97) to make the bubbles rebound off the invisible walls of your Nok to cram into previously impossible angles and hard to reach bubbles to add another twist to play.

Early on the levels are almost too easy, but persevere and Maya Bubbles gets a little more rewarding as you find yourself struggling to cope with the increasing bubble stockpile. There isn't much to complain about. Maya Bubbles is well presented, but we wish there were more sound effects besides the odd chimp squeal.

In all Maya Bubbles is a fun game well worth downloading to your Nok to pass more than a few moments of your time. It's nothing special, and you've seen the likes of it before, but considering it's free, Maya Bubbles is more than deserving of a massive thumbs up.
