Nokia Box is a new initiative that started to do the rounds yesterday pointing at a major event that will take place in London on the 18th August. Little is known about the mystery that is the Nokia Box but with personalised messages appearing around the world it seems a great deal of effort has gone into the Nokia Box. Read on the find out what we know about the Nokia Box and the 18th August...

Bloggers around the world seem to have become caught up in the mystery that is the Nokia Box pointing to an event that will take place on the 18th August. Now, could this be the unveiling of the Nokia N8 is all its glory, could it be Phase Two of Conspiracy for Good or will it be the kick off for this year's Nokia World expo that just so happens to take place in London this year?

No one knows at this point but what we do know is that the Nokia Box has popped up in various places and contains a USB memory stick with teases pulling a variety of bloggers from around the world together.

Hmm. Didn’t they do a similar stunt to this once before? Last time it was hardware, wasn’t it?

This time, my money is on this being an attempt to promote a media/personal messaging/communication service. Nokia like to think they are ‘Connecting People’ and this may be them attempting (again) to re-brand their Messaging service, or perhaps re-invent their fairly useful integrated messaging which links all your various IM accounts into one place, and give it a name. Or something like that. I’m pretty sure it’ll be some form of IM communication concept.

I don’t think it’ll be the N8 because they’ve already done that one. They’d look pretty silly ‘launching’ the N8 a second time, and then a third time when stock eventually reaches the stores in late September.

I would have guessed it would be the N9 but with the N8 hitting shelves just after this i don’t think it will be a phone as that would affect N8 Sales. Unfortunately Nokia cant keep a secret and stuff leaks out way to early but when they manage to keep something under wraps (like the N900 which had a similar advertising release strategy to this) WOW it is normally something that i must have. I would like a tablet running windows 7 please to replace the Nokia booklet. I’m not yet ready for a meego one until i have tried the meego phone.

N9. I like that. It would be classic Nokia to steal the thunder from their N8 release by announcing an N9 six months before they had any intention of releasing it!

The N9 is more or less just like the N8 except with a bigger screen, sliding keyboard, and a 8MP camera(N8 has 12MP).

Doubt this will steal much thunder from N8.

The one with sliding keyboard is definitely not the N9, it’s probably N8-001 or something like that.

The N9 supposed to be with Meego/Symbian^4, not Symbian^3.
