Nokia C6 Review: What Others Think

nc6We really liked the Nokia C6 when we got our hands on one. The touchscreen is every bit as good as that on its big brother, the N97 and the keypad is a minor marvel. For a mid-range phone it is packed with features. But what about everyone else? Lets see what other mobile sites made of the C6.

T3.com reckoned that the C6 was a "decent stab" at bringing the N97 magic to a lower price point. The reviewer agreed that the keyboard was a stand-out feature, saying, "It took us only a few minutes to get really up to speed with it, the keys offering a reassuring thunk every time they’re tapped, with a decent bobble on each one to ensure you don’t slip onto the wrong key while tapping out texts."

They did rasie some concerns about the placement of the D-Pad and Space bar, though, which the reviewer found to be uncomfortable to use.

Tech Radar had a very in-depth review which compared the C6 to the earlier C5 and thought that the newer phone "certainly has a step up in features to match its higher-numbered name".

The display was complemented for its appealingly natural look when displaying images and clear, readable text and the phone was praised for its easy to set up email, 'sensible' layout and for having such an impressive screen for the price point.

Tech Radar did feel that the phone was let down by a laggy OS and a rather unresponsive touchscreen but praised the overall robust feel of the operating system and apps.

My Nokia Blog felt that the C6 was closer to the 5800 XpressMusic than the N97, and was surprised at how hefty the phone felt copmared to other Nokia smartphones. The reviewer felt that call quality was "top notch" in common with many Nokia's and that sound quality from the media player and headphone jack was acceptable for the price.

The camera was not considered one of the C6's strongest features, but concluded "if you’re simply on a lookout for a capable and affordable device with one of the best physical qwerty keys out there, the C6 is hard bargain to match"

Had your hands on a Nokia C6 yet, what do you think? Let us know what you think of the new QWERTY smartphone in the Comments below.

It’s essentially a 5800xm (same CPU etc.) in a new package. Didn’t like it but then again I tested the N8 next to the C6 so disappointment in the C6 is understandable :)

As I’ve mentioned before this is an awful misstep by Nokia and I can only hope it’s the last of the duff phones at silly prices that they bring out.

CNET and Electric Pig quite rightly pan it for being dreadful, old and slow. This phone has no place beign released in the back half of 2010 at all.

On the plus side the highly reputable Know Your Mobile have published a pre-release review of the N8. Their opinion? It’s awesome. :)

All I hear is good reviews about this phone but when we got one into work today it really was a shockingly bad phone its bulky, uncomfortable and symbian is just plain bad. A resistive touch screen on a £200 plus phone, really?

You know with the C7 coming out and todays “leaked” photos that we saw I don’t really think there’s a need for the C6

However it has obviously sold extremely well in Vietnam and hopefully that holds true for the rest of its release countries

and that price will inevitably fall faster than we think with the other devices that are coming out so it’s likely going to be a winner for Nokia if it isnt already
