nc6The Nokia Box may have introduced the rest of the world to the Nokia C6 yesterday but here in the UK, Nokia has slashed the price of the Nokia C6, making an already good deal even more of a bargain. Read on to find out about the Nokia C6 price drop...

The Nokia C6 is a solid little smartphone that brings the pick of the features from the Nokia N97 Mini at a fraction of the price. Now Nokia has made that price even lower, knocking £40 from the phone on its web store.

When the C6 launched last month, Nokia thought that £289 would be a suitable price. After only a few weeks, they have had a re-think. £249 will get you a Nokia C6, SIM-Free and unlocked for use with any UK network.

There is no sign of the price cut trickling down to the networks for a cut in contract pricing as yet, so if you can afford to shell out for the phone in one go this is the cheapest way to get hold of a Nokia C6.

Makes sense considering there has to be some separation between the N8, C7 and C6. At GBP 289, the C6 was getting too close to its higher end siblings (I am basing this on assumptions and recent C7 pricing rumors relative the N8) and should not extract too large a premium relative to the 5800XM, which is still available at bargain basement prices. Also, I would imagine the forthcoming E7 and X7 will have a premium to the C7 (business and media attributes, resp), further crowding the pricing of these newcomers given the N8 has effectively set a very competitive ceiling (N9 excl.). The fact that the C6 price dropped so soon after launch might well suggest the C7 is around the corner and slightly ahead of schedule. Wishful thinking?
