Nokia E5-00 Unboxing ReviewThe Nokia E5-00 is the latest business handset to launch. It comes with a full QWERTY keyboard, 2.4-inch non-touchscreen and runs the Symbian S60 3rd Edition OS. It even has a 5-Megapixel camera. So, while this may sound like the Nokia E72, the Nokia E5-00 comes with a new design and a re-worked keyboard. Check it out with our Nokia E5-00 unboxing review…

The Nokia E5-00 may share many of the same points as the Nokia E72 on paper but when you have it in your hand the design is very much that of a more sophisticated Nokia C3. It has the a nice rounded feel to it, an amazingly tough finish and even the metal backplate is held in place the same as the C3 – you need to push two little clips located either side to click it open, so avoiding one of the failings of the Nokia E72 design.

Nokia E5-00 Now On Sale

The Nokia E5-00 measures 115 x 58.9 x 12.8mm, so is a little heavier than the Nokia E72 but at 126g, it is a shade lighter. The 2.4-inch screen has a standard 320 x 240-pixel resolution but being an 18-bit colour chip you will find that it’s not quite as bright as the Nokia E72.

The big difference we noticed with the Nokia E5-00 is that it come with a reworked keyboard. You’ll still find the same QWERTY layout and numeric configuration in the central 12 block keys but the Spacebar is now larger, like on the Nokia C3, so underlying these keys.

The keys on the Nokia E5-00 have a nice rubber feel to them and are a good size. So far we’ve found typing smooth and highly responsive. Sure, it takes a little time for new users to get used to holding the device and typing with thumbs but the overall effect works well.

With the Nokia E5-00 new in our hands we’ve not had a chance to check out the finer details yet but we know the 5-Megapixel camera comes with a single Flash and you’ll find that it has a maximum 4x Zoom. With built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth you’ll be able to stay connected when not using the 3G connection.

We’re looking forward to testing the Nokia E5-00 out over the next couple of weeks. We’ll let you know how we’ve been getting on but for now, check out what the Nokia E5-00 looks like and what comes in the box.

Got this phone on contract with Vodafone a week ago. Being used to a Blackberry the phones looks and handling appealed to me and I was not disappointed.
This looks and handles like an excellent phone, the camera at 5 mega pixels is very good. Use the maps whilst off line sounds good too. Call clarity and speaker volume are good although the Music player sounds a little tinny compared to the Blackberry.
I love the Calender and would say it is clearer and better than my Blackberry.
All in all, I am very impressed up to now with the E5-00 from Nokia,
