Nokia C6-01 Symbian^3 8-Megapixel Smartphone Leaked The Nokia C6-01 went up for pre-order in the Netherlands a few weeks ago and is pretty much a re-working of a standard Nokia C6-00 smartphone but with a beefed up 8-Megapixel camera. Is that the only difference, as a story about the Nokia C6-01 running Symbian^3 has surfaced. Read on to find out more about the Nokia C6-01 running Symbian^3 and packing in that 8-Megapixel camera.

The Nokia C6-01is a hybrid smartphone with 3.2-inch touchscreen display and full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Other features include A-GPS receiver as well as Ovi Maps included, while connectivity is handled at 3.5G speeds courtesy of HSDPA and you’ll find Wi-Fi on-board too.

Now, according to the story over at Unwired, the Nokia C6-01 appeared on a Bulgarian website sporting the Symbian^3 operating system on the accompanying picture, only to be changed to the Symbian S60 5th Edition screengrab we're used to seeing. Was this an oversight on the websites part by letting the cat out of the bag a little early or simply a junior art editor googling and grabbing the first screen grab they found?

At this stage we have no way of knowing, Nokia is saying nothing about the Nokia C6-01 running Symbian^3 and the evidence is looking a little sparse. Still, would you be willing to get your hands on a Nokia C6-01 with Symbian^3 if it were to be released? Let us know what you think in the Comments below.

I would be surprised if the C6-01 had Symbian^3. If it did, it would confuse the C7 product placement, whereby the only possible (and I’m guessing) differences would be limited to styling/materials, battery & mempry capacity and screen technology. I am of the opinion the C6-01 is a C6-00 without QWERTY (aka candy bar) but offering a step up on camera technology. This might prove compelling to those who recognize the power of Symbian^1….and are willing to sacrifice a better UI (Symbian^3) and less processing power for lower price. Nokia may well have helped this decision by offering a quality product with a solid 8MP camera to boot. Clearly Nokia seems to be positioning Symbian^3 for N8, X7, E7, and C7 products. These products will carry more RAM, on-board memory, greater multi-tasking ability, top end screen tech and heftier processing. However, with the noticeable improvements made to Symbian^1 these past 6 months…with great speed and better and more efficient use of ROM and RAM…the C6 series should be quite successful at the right price. They will also drive a lower price introduction to OVI’s growing list of services.
