The Nokia E5-00 may be a business focussed messenger device but with its 5-Megapixel camera it can be used to record some highly detailed pictures, as well as used to record video on the go. The Nokia E5-00 comes packed with a 5-Megapixel CCD located on the back of the smartphone. This rating is pretty much the mainstream in image terms these days, as it offers some large and detailed images while fitting into a slim a phone profile as possible.

This compact nature of the camera can be seen on the Nokia E5-00 as you won’t find any bulging components, as the lens and Flash sit nicely in a little protective dip on the back of the device. The Nokia E5-00 only has a single Flash, so you’ll find results a little mixed in low-light conditions but outdoors and in natural day light, this is a cracking device to opt for.
You won’t find a dedicated Capture button on the side of the Nokia E5-00 but you’ll find the standard Volume buttons that also double as Zoom controls. These twin buttons are rather small and we found them a little awkward to use, preferring to use the D-pad that also offers the same features.
The Nokia E5-00 being a standard Symbian S60 3rd Edition smartphone you’ll find the standard photo software. You’ll find the camera icon already setup on the Homescreen so getting up and running is easy. The 2.4-inch screen makes for a fairly decent viewfinder and you can choose to choose in either Portrait or Landscape mode.
You’ll find Auto Exposure, Full Focus and Red-Eye Reduction all built-in but perhaps the one feature truly lacking is auto-focus, as this makes getting the right image the first time that much easier. As a result, getting the right snap can be a little tricky at times but once caught image quality is more than acceptable.
When it comes to sharing your photos, you can instantly send them via Bluetooth, email or even upload them to Facebook or Ovi Share. What’s more, you can tag, add a description and even add a title before you do so. All these functions can be done as soon as you take the snap or later from within the Photo Album.
The Nokia E5-00 camera isn’t the most complicated or advanced camera on the market but it works reasonably well and will meet the needs of anyone needing a casual camera.
