McDonald's Finder is a free Ovi Store app that uses your Nokia's built-in GPS skills to pinpoint your nearest McDonald's restaurant. It's official and everything - perfect for fast food loving Nok fans. Did it hit the spot, or leave us feeling peckish? Find out in our McDonald's Finder UK review.
We checked out the McDonalds Finder UK app using our Nokia N97 but you can use it with any Symbian S60 5th Edition smartphone, so it works just as well with the Nokia X6 as it does the Nokia 5230.
The 0.11MB free Ovi Store app is a basic app that almost mimics the 'Nearest Store sections of shops and restaurant websites, but with added GPS-enabled features. Fire it up and you'll immediately be taken to a page with the option to 'Find my nearest restaurant' and 'search by town/postcode'.
You can also filter your restaurant searches by filtering your choices deepening on what you're looking for. The options include filtering by: Wi-Fi, play place, drive-thru, baby changing, birthday parties and accessibility.
We first tried the app by asking it to find our nearest restaurant by finding our location, which unfortunately for us it didn't do. We did, however have much better luck first entering our postcode, as well as entering our town - correctly identifying McDonald's, Ealing Broadway as this reviewers nearest Maccy D's.
Once you've found your nearest outlet the app displays the restaurant's distance, along with its address, post code, whether it has facilities such as baby changing, free Wi-Fi and more. Opening times and the establishment's telephone number.
Hit 'Directions' and you'll get a display of the restaurant's location, courtesy of Ovi Maps, with full walking, driving and free guided navigation, Ovi Maps style.
As a dedicated MacDonald's Finder app it works almost without a hitch on the occasions we tried it. We did have initial trouble pinpointing our location, but once you're in the 'Directions' section we managed to do so. Its accuracy in suggesting nearby restaurants based on postcode or town is flawless. We tried searching for nearby restaurants using a number of nearby towns, and each was correct no matter how many suggestions it threw up.
If you're a McDonald's fan likely to look for the nearest McDonald's flavoured establishment wherever you are, then McDonald's Finder UK is well worth a place on your Nok.
