Meego - the new mobile OS from Nokia/Intel - is likely to debut on Nokia's new N9 smartphone. Aside from a few screens glimpsed in spy shots of that phone, though, we don't know that much about what the operating system will look like. Join us after the break for more...
Some new screenshots from Nokia's Meego developer guide have given us a taste of what to expect. The pics show the app launcher, contacts applet, homescreen and thumbnailed multitasking switcher of the Meego OS.
It is important to note that the Nokia N9 will likely be thoroughly reskinned with a consistent look and feel, but these developer images do give a good idea of the basic look of the Meego OS.
Although the basic icon layout stays the same, it looks as though there is a high level of customisation open to users and developers that can make for some quite different looking takes on the basic Meego look and feel. The task switcher is quite reminiscent of the way the Palm Pre handles multitasking, with thumbnailed views of open apps that can be flicked through and selected or closed.
