Nokia's Ovi Player has received an overhaul today, with v2.1.10304 of Ovi Music Unlimited now offering DRM-free music. As such, you'll be able to play downloaded MP3s on any device, as well as on your Nokia. To find out more, join us after the break...
Ovi Music Player is a handy little app for your PC which lets you organise and play back your music, and download new songs and albums. The download feature has been available for some time, thanks to Nokia's Ovi Music Unlimited service, with an unlimited downloads subscription available. However, Nokia has made some major changes to the latest version of Ovi Music Unlimited – v2.1.10304.
V2.1.10304 of Ovi Music Unlimited offers a new pay per download service, and unlike the unlimited downloads service this is completely DRM-free. That means that the MP3 files you download aren't limited to your PC and Nokia – but instead you'll be able to copy the files to your other audio devices, or even make your own music CDs.
The DRM-free MP3s are good quality, too, at 256kbps, and you'll be able to keep them indefinitely. At present, the unlimited subscriptions service retains its DRM protection – so you'll only be able to play back music on your Nokia and PC.
