With a name to indulge the most care-free music fan, New York City birthed band - The Pretty Reckless is already starting to make a name for itself. Fronted by the increasingly well known Taylor Momsen, of Gossip Girl TV series fame, the band only recently released its debut album Light Me Up, but with the first album showing much promise and variation we're sure you'll hear lots more from them, and discover why its one of Nokia Music's albums of the week.
If you'd not heard of The Pretty Reckless, we won't blame you. They're new on the scene, with a fresh face fronting them in Taylor Monsen. She's just 17. A star in the making for sure, if you wouldn't already consider her one - she's already been spotted hooking up with Madonna.
The band itself includes members Ben Philips on Guitar, Mark Damon on bass and Jamie Perkins on drums. Listen to Taylor Momsen's vocals and you'll hear elements of Sheryl Crow, Courtney Love, Meredith Brooks and a hint of Alanis Morrisette from the teen rock star with a voice that belies her years.
On the album you'll find a varied mix of ear pleasing gentle rock by way of the song that provides the cover name for the album - Light Me Up, along with more stomping, soundtracks such as Since You're Gone, down to more gentle heart-warmers such as the acoustic guitar fuelled 'You'.
