Nokia C6-4The Nokia C6 is the first of Nokia's new handsets. We'll be bringing you a hands-on with it later today, but in the meantime you'll have to make do with a few small specs. Join us after the break to find out more...

The Nokia C6 is the second handset to feature Symbian ^3, following in the footsteps of the Nokia N8. According to Anssi Vanjoki Executive Vice President of mobile solutions, it's the first handset to feature Nokia's CBD display.

CBD, according to Vanjoki, is something nobody else has. It's Nokia's "Clear Black Display". It's "blacker than black", with unwanted reflections moved from the background, making it better in brighter conditions. OPK also promised better power consumption.

    DAMNED !!! WTF ???

Sorry, but it seems i’m missing something…

Isn’t the C6 already out since a few weeks ?

Isn’t the C6 supposed to be the last Symbian ^1 (S60v5) smartphone ?

Is there another C6 to be launched soon ?

I’m about to order the C6, but if Nokia continues messing everything up with it’s communication, i’ll go to Android…

    I’m getting really upset…

New, even better C6 with new Symbian^3 and better features. Like in cars, the name stays but product improves. Same thing with X3 –> X3 Touch&Type

First, it was Anssi Vanjoki, EVP of mobile solutions who introduced this device. It is NOT the C6-00, but the C6-01. The latter is a candybar phone with the newer Symbian ^3 OS plus 3.2 inch capacitance touch plus CBD plus 8MP camera. The C6-00 is a more entry level messaging phone with full QWERTY. The C6-01 is more a mini version of the C7 and should be priced higher than the C6-00, accordingly.

I’m waiting for the dust to clear before buying my next phone. In the meantime, quite happy with my 5800XM updated to latest custom firmware coutesy PNHT forum…a C6/N97 hybrid firmware ported to the 5800XM. OK…so I do not have the nice QWERTY keyboard…but retain dual stereo speakers, dual LED flash, and superior Carl Zeiss optics.

I really like the N8, E7 and C7. Can’t decide. Probably the N8…but the others look great too!!!!!

The picture in this article shows the C7 btw.

Nokia\’s naming IS confusing though. Also, I\’d hope the C6-00 gets an update to Symbian^3 but I suspect they won\’t. Nokia never provides upgrades like that, always just bug fixes and small feature changes within the same release.
