Nokia executive vice president, Niklas Savander kicked things off at Nokia World 2010 here in London today with a tough talking keynote to declare that "Nokia is back", and selling more smartphones than any company by far.
With Nokia going through its own social change with a new CEO in Stephen Elop, and increasing competition, Nokia by its own admission is going through a "tough challenging transition", Niklas Savander today told Nokia World attendees.
But things are on the up for Nokia, Savander said, in an almost raised fist fashion. "People bought far more Nokia smartphones than iOS and Android combined", he said, adding that Nokia is currently selling around 260,000 new smartphones every day. "More smartphone sales than any other company by far. Period. "
In keeping with Nokia's Connecting People tagline Savander suggested that Nokia will never go down the route of attempting to make one smartphone to rule them all, variety is the spice of smartphones it seems.
"We’ve laid the foundations for our success. We’re Nokia… we’re unique. Our market is the world. And when it comes to our customers, we know that one device will not satisfy all of them."
