Nokia C6 Hands-On Preview

The Nokia C6-01 is the second smartphone in the newly announced Nokia C-series line-up, joining the new Nokia C7. With a brand new Symbian ^3 OS, and a smart, pebble like design, it has a few neat tricks up its sleeve. Join us after the cut for our hands-on preview...

The Nokia C6-01 is completely different to the outgoing Nokia C6, despite joining it in the middle of Nokia’s C-series range. There’s no QWERTY keyboard on the newer handset, and the display also has something new to offer.

Called 'ClearBlack Display', the screen on the Nokia C6-01 is one of Nokia’s best to date, with stunningly vibrant colours on offer. Nokia claims that the technology helps to reduce reflections, making it easier to see the screen in all conditions, and it also claimed the C6-01 offers‘blacker than black’ colour reproduction.

What’s it like then? It’s actually pretty good. The blacks on the screen are indeed very deep, helping the display to blend into the black surround on the front of the Nokia C6-01.

The rest of the Nokia C6-01 is also very nice. With a smaller screen than the Nokia C7, Nokia N8 and Nokia E7, it feels a bit more like a feature phone than a smartphone, and is a lot more pocket friendly as a result.

Overall we're pleased with how the C6-01 has turned out. Its compact shape and clean looks, combined with the new Symbian^3 OS and ClearBlack Display make it a great alternative to the likes of the N8 or E7. We'll be doing a full review of the C6-01 soon, so keep an eye out for more on the C6-01.
