Although we knew he wouldn't be taking questions or interviews, we were still excited to see new Nokia CEO Stephen Elop at Nokia World 2010. We were told right at the beginning of the event that he sent his best wishes, but it seemed like he simply couldn't stay away. To find out more, and to see what the man himself had to say, join us after the break...
We'd have been a tad disappointed if new Nokia CEO Stephen Elop didn't make an appearance at Nokia World this year, and it took until half way through the closing ceremony before Elop popped up.
Elop appeared during the results of the 'Calling All Innovators' competition - during the Growth Economy Venture Challange part of the comp which aims to change the life of people in emerging markets. With the best app getting a $1m investment, it's a prize well worth paying.
Although Stephen Elop wasn't available to make any comments or carry out interviews, he was the star guest that presented the prize for the Growth Economy Venture Challange. Elop was happy to point out that he's currently "unemployed" - at least for this week - but couldn't find a better way of spending that time than being with Nokia. Good man!
He also pointed out "developers, developers, developers, you guys matter.." "You bring the eco-system to life". He went on to say he was humbled by the things developers get up to with Nokia's hardware - so hopefully we'll be seeing some more fantastic apps on the Ovi Store during the next few years.
