Nokia's Terminal Mode in-car infotainment concept has been around for a few months now, but we got the chance to see the concept in action at Nokia World last week. The results were pretty impressive, and something we can easily imagine appearing in mainstream cars in the near future. Join us after the break for more...
Nokia's Terminal Mode is a concept that has an increasing amount of manufacturers behind it – from VW to BMW, Audi and Mercedes. The concept is for Nokia devices to be able to talk to the electronic systems in future cars, with in-car monitors displaying all the information shown on the phone, accessing media content and streaming music.
Nokia displayed its Terminal Mode concept in action at Nokia World last week, and it's good to see it shaping up well. We saw a Nokia N97 Mini connected to a large touchscreen display, with the screen mirroring Ovi Maps and offering full satellite navigation.
Although we didn't get to try it out, we presume all the phones other functions would be accessible via Terminal Mode. As such, streaming music should be easy, along with the ability to browse the web, take calls or even send text messages.
As before, we'll be bringing you updates on Terminal Mode as and when – so check back here for more.
