Along with loads of other hardware and software announcements at Nokia Word, Nokia announced a new version of the ever popular Ovi Maps last week. Compatible with both Symbian ^1 and Symbian ^3 handsets, join us after the break to see what the latest updates include...
The latest version of Ovi Maps has been released just in time for the launch of the Nokia C7, Nokia E7 and Nokia C6-01. It seemed like only a matter of time before the app was given a refresh for the new Symbian ^3 handsets, with a staggering 20 million downloads having occurred so far on existing smartphones.
For a start, Ovi Maps is set to get a new feature, in the form of Ovi Maps Places. This uses your Nokia's GPS chip to determine your location, and let you access nearby favourites, suggestions and your previous search history.
According to Nokia Conversations, Ovi Maps is set to get social networking integration, including Facebook, letting your friends know exactly where you are if you want them to. There's also an update to the imaging, with up to 7,500 3D landmarks now rendered on the maps.
We'll be trying out the updates to Ovi Maps over the next month, but for a full list of changes head over to Nokia Conversations.
