Nokia very recently welcomed a fresh face at the head of the company in Stephen Elop. One face that departed was Anssi Vanjoki, who headed the company's smartphone division.
Speaking frankly to the Wall Street Journal, Anjoki revealed he left Nokia because of his desire to become its CEO, which didn't happen:
"I didn’t become the CEO. It is as simple as that", Anjoki told them," I felt the time has come to seek new opportunities in my life."
He'd obviously done a great job; according to one of Nokia's opening Nokia World Nokia sold more smartphones than iOS and Android combined - 260,000 new smartphones every day.
As Stephen Elop takes over, Nokia fans will be wishing him luck in an increasingly competitive market, and wishing Anssi Vanjoki all the best in his new future role.
