Nokia has announced the release of Qt 4.7 – the latest version of its development toolkit. This should help developers to create apps and games for Nokia devices – both on Symbian ^3 and on MeeGo. Read on to find out more...
One of the best things about Symbian ^3 is the fact apps and games can be developed using Qt – a platform that's easy for developers to get to grips with. Because of this, we should be seeing lots of new apps in the near future for handsets such as the Nokia N8.
Qt 4.7 goes one step further, including new framework called Qt Quick. Qt Quick promises to make it easier than ever to work on user interfaces, along with developing apps across different platforms.
According to ARS Technica, Qt Quick includes a new declarative scripting language called QML, which lets developers describe flexible user interface layouts.
It all sounds a bit technical for us, but we're sure it's a good thing! The developers we listened to at Nokia World last week certainly seemed impressed with the platform, and we'll hopefully be seeing the results on the Ovi Store soon.
