nokia-5230-overclocked-800mhzThe Nokia 5230 is one of the most popular touchscreen smartphones currently available, but it's easy to get caught up in the hype with all the latest products. However, if you already own a Nokia 5230, you'll be pleased to know you can get even more out of it. Join us after the cut to find out how...

The Nokia 5230 is a decent smartphone, mixing a low cost with the Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system. The result is a smartphone that's accessible to all. It has the potential to be an even better smartphone, however, as some users have found out.

As standard, the Nokia 5230 features a processor that runs at 434MHz. It's always proved good enough for us, but a video has popped up on the internet showing the Nokia 5230 being overclocked to an impressive 800MHz.

This offers almost as much speed as the latest crop of smartphones, and could see apps running with less lag. At present, the hack hasn't been made public – so you'll have to wait if you plan on overclocking your own Nokia 5230. We still think it's pretty impressive, however.

The prospect of overclocking my 5800XM is intriguing, but the phone is running quite smoothly and much faster with the Custom Firmware C6-00 port from PNHT….is this really necessary? It will clearly take down the battery quicker…and I\’m not sure how much richer gaming can become on a platform that does not have a GPU accelerator. In any event, what may prove more problematic is the stated specs of the FREESCALE MXC300-30 ARM 11, which show a maximum 532 MHZ. Without changing the heat dissipation capabilities of the device, over clocking to such a high number cannot be good. It just seems a bit over the top to me.

I found a really cool way to speed up your nokia symbian
It sounds mad but deinitely works
1st change your device date to 01/05/2005
    Open calendar ,new entry,to do,enter subject as Speed,due 04/08/2005,priority high,done then do another to do,subject Qoukie,due 04/08/2005,priority low,done,
Then options, change view to,to do view, mark speed as done then mark qoukie done, leave calendar running,go back to settings change date back to todays date and now your phone is faster.REALLY COOL,LESS LAG

Try it stoli89. The sat nav becomes fluid, i did my girlfriends a year ago, it’s still alright. what have you got to lose ? a 5800 will set you back £105 – 110 . atm .. I’ve just reset mine(*#7370#,,, thing), now i’ve followed the instructions above , again, and , well , if you want it, do it !! I can assure you it makes it just a bit nippier.
