Open the Premier League App and you'll be met with a slightly uninspiring menu. Viewed in Symbian S60 5th Edition, the six menu buttons are bunched up in the top left of the screen, with an expense of black filling the rest of the screen.

The buttons consist of News Updates, Fixtures, Live Scores, Results, League Standings and Player Statistics.

Clicking on News Updates give you access to a huge catalogue of news stories, with a small photograph and a couple of paragraphs present for each story. Clicking on the title give you access to the full article, which is provided by goal.com.

Clicking on Fixtures brings the first disappointment, as the feature is also mixed in with results. If you're hoping to check out your team's next game, you'll have to click through a couple of screens first, with the results from the previous couple of games shown as default.

Curiously, the same doesn't apply to the Results feature, which places Live Scores at the top, above previous results.

One of the biggest problems with the Premier League App is the presentation. There's a tiny 'Home' link at the top left of the screen, but at 3mm in width it's too tricky to press, and there's no other way back to the main screen. As such, we kept finding ourselves accidentally exiting the app rather than exiting back to the main menu.

It's tricky to recommend the Premier League App then. Yes, it's useful if you're a football fan, but it's poorly laid out, not as fast as it could be, and feels more like a free app. We'd prefer to stick with the internet for live scores.
