Nokia N8-Nokia-Large-Cinema-NightThe Nokia N8 continues to surprise us with its capabilities, from its stunning photo quality to the ability to record HD movies. In a new move, Nokia has just set up the world's biggest cinema screen, and played back an entire film using the Nokia N8. Join us after the cut to find out more...

The last time we saw a film recorded by the Nokia N8, it was Dot. The World's Smallest Stop-Motion Animation Character. This stunning film features a star that's just 9mm tall, so Nokia's cinema screen really is at the other end of the spectrum.

Hoisted into place by a couple of cranes, the screen measures in at 51 x 28 metres – a total of 1,428 square metres. It absolutely dwarfs a tower block of flats behind it, while projection is handled by four 140-kilo projectors.

The location was Rosengard, Sweden, and the film was the Prince of Persia. The most amazing thing is that the movie was stored and played back using a Nokia N8 smartphone via HDMI, with around 1,500 spectators below, and another 1,000 residents in the flats turning out to watch the film.

Although we wouldn't want such a setup in our front room, it does show off some impressive possibilities. With home projectors getting smaller all the time, and the Nokia N8 also supporting Dolby surround sound, you really could have a home media centre that takes up just a few inches.
