Nokia N9 Tried and Tested?

nokia-n9We've seen early reviews of Nokia handsets before from Eldar Murtazin – most famously with the allegedly stolen Nokia N8 – but most appear to be written with an anti-Nokia slant. Things could be about to change with the Nokia N9 – a device Eldar claims to have, and claims that the hardware is “near perfect”. Read on for more...

We take reviews from Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin with a pinch of salt – not least because devices appear to get reviewed before firmware is finished, and while still at a pre-production stage.

Things could be different with the Nokia N9, however, the handset that looks like sitting at the top of Nokia's N-series. With what looks like an aluminium casing, huge screen and sliding QWERTY keypad, the Nokia N9 looks like a thinner and more contemporary version of the Nokia E7, but also running MeeGo.

According to Ubergizmo, Eldar is quoted as saying that the hardware on the Nokia N9 is “near perfect”, and that he “likes it”.

As with Symbian ^3, Eldar is not so impressed with the MeeGo operating system, pointing out “in terms of SW is not so good at the moment – but I hope they will change it in 2011”.

You\’re giving Eldar a lot more credit than this SAMSUNG shill is worth IMO. First, the N9 IS about the software…it is the premier device which will bring Meego onto the world stage. To play up the hardware and downplay the software is just a coy ruse to make a very unfair attack on Nokia. This has been Eladar\’s modus operandi for quite awhile, IMO. Sure, the N9 will have fantastic hardware…not a surprise from a company with a rich history of delivering excellent hardware. The big question comes with the lofty expectations for Meego. Clearly, Eldar is focused on extinguishing this fire before its even had a chance. No surprise.

I have been waiting for my next device…..after the N97 I was put off….but my N900 is much better, just lacks ongoing support and development from Nokia and developers alike….hence is still missing some basic functionality….

    The N9, I have great hopes for….

I like the form factor of the Nokia E7, but not the specs…..
I like the specs and features of the HTC Desire HD, but not the form factor…..

Give me a device with the form factor of the Nokia E7, the specs of the HTC Desire HD, and with a MeeGo OS, and I will be happy.

Euan is right, my n900 was excellent. Great memory size etc… But let down by Nokia. If the did learn from it and from Maemo then I expect the N9 to be an all phone killer ;)

I like my Galaxy S but I just want a phone/computer that feels like it won’t snap In my hand and that’s compatible with flash etc…(unlike the N900).

the nokia n9 is being prepped to be shown off in 2 weeks in Dublin with a global launch in 2011……….. the lovely looking but useless 16gb E7 made and appearance 5 weeks ago and theres still no sign of retailers stocking it……….. the packaging for the N9 is very different to the normal. I wasnt able to see if the N9 had a micro sd slot which i know many of us would want to see. I did mention why it didnt have a straight forward usb slot for the flash drive rather than use the adapter cable to insert a flash drive and the Fin just looked at me blank as if to say yes why is there a need for this cable!!!! so keep your eyes and ears open on the 15th Nov
