the-bits-we-like-about-the-nokia-n8 copyWe've been playing with a Nokia N8 for the past few days. Although we've had a pre-production sample (with a full production model coming this week), it's been enough to help us decide the features that we love most. Read on after the break to find out more...

We've seen several Nokia N8s over the past few months – from early pre-production samples, to devices with the latest firmware, and there's no doubt that it's one of the smartest handsets we've ever seen. What are the best features though?

For a start, it's impossible to pick up and use a Nokia N8 without being impressed by the build quality. Nokia forged its reputation on solid, well made phones, but the Nokia N8 goes a step further – it's without a doubt the toughest handset we've used.

There's no sign of any flexing from the anodised aluminium casing, even under pressure, and the Nokia N8 feels every bit capable of living up to daily knocks and drops. We've even seen a set of keys scratched across the surface of the phone, without any ill effects to the aluminium.

The Symbian ^3 operating system is also brilliant. It looks similar to the S60 5th Edition OS at first glance, but once you start using it you'll find loads of differences. Because it uses the dedicated GPU on the Nokia N8, Symbian ^3 runs  fluidly, with almost no lag.

It's also better from a features perspective, with multiple home pages, better social networking integration and easier to use menus. Overall, it really is the software to match the Nokia N8's amazing hardware, and as a package we love it.

There's obviously a lot more to the Nokia N8 than just its design and OS, however, so we'll be bringing you our other favourite features throughout the week.

In the meantime, we'd love to know your favourite features. Are you buying the Nokia N8 for its camera, for instance, or perhaps the combination of integrated and external storage?

What about the call quality and the quality of the sound from the FM radio and transmitter? Everyone talks about hardware quality and the camera – what about it’s function as a phone?

Anyone can tell me that Symbian ^3 operating system can be used in Nokia N97?
