Although we've been blown away by the quality of the Nokia N8, many consumers will be waiting for the all new Nokia C6-01 – a smartphone that offers the same Symbian ^3 operating system at a much lower price point. Which is the better handset, however? Read on after the break for our Nokia C6 vs Nokia N8 head to head...

Although the Nokia N8 is the first Symbian ^3 smartphone to hit the market, it's set to be followed shortly by a host of new handsets, including the Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7 and Nokia E7.

We think the Nokia C6-01 will be one of the most popular, treading the fine line between features, usability and price better than the others. Is it worth cutting costs over the Nokia N8, however, or are you better off sticking to the more expensive handset?

For a start, it's likely that you'll favour one form factor over the other. The Nokia C6-01 is the smaller smartphone, with a 3.2-inch screen, and it feels more compact in the hand. Colours are slightly more impressive on the Nokia C6-01, thanks to the use of Nokia's CBD (Clear Black Display). The Nokia N8 features a larger 3.5-inch display, and is taller, wider and thinner.

The Nokia N8 is the better handset in terms of build quality, with a uni-body anodised alumium casing that's tougher than the Nokia C6-01's body.

Things are more equal when it comes to connectivity – whichever handset you opt for you'll get 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. That said, the Nokia C6-01 goes one better, with faster Bluetooth 3.0 technology.

The Nokia N8's headline-grabbing 12-Megapixel camera is still the one to beat in this test, and the Nokia C6-01 counters with a 8-Megapixel snapper. It's not quite so sharp at large resolutions, but it's perfectly good for everyday prints or uploading to Facebook.

On the face of it, then, it's a tricky choice. If you have the money, we still think the Nokia N8 is the one to go for, featuring the nicest quality of any smartphone to date. If you're a bit strapped for cash, however, you can get the majority of features at a cheaper price with the Nokia C6-01.

I prefer the C7.. it’s as powerful as the N8, has the same screen size but adds CBD and it’s super slick and compact!

Compared to the competition they are all much cheaper and all of them offer great value for the money.

I see them all as winners, Nokia just covered everybody worldwide when they made the N8/C7/E7/C6 and we haven’t even seen the X7, X6-01, E6 (E66 successor prolly with qwerty&touch hybrid), E6-01(E72 successor prolly also hybrid), nor the N9 yet! They’ll be definitely covered on all market segments and out of all phone companies they offer something great in each market.

If I had to pick which one will sell most I would pick either C6-01 or C7. They are at that price point where most people will not hesitate.

I need a second phone and am going for C6-01 without a doubt. I think its a fabulous phone. The problem with Nokia, however, is the gap between announcements and actual availability, at least in India.
