Since the beginning of this month, we've been looking at some of the features we love on the Nokia N8 – such as USB on the go and the aluminium construction. We also love the dedicated graphics chip, however, as it makes a huge difference to the way this phone works. Read on to find out more...

There's a lot of great features on the Nokia N8 – so many, in fact, that we'll probably still be finding new ones at the end of next month! One of the most useful is also hidden – the dedicated graphics chip.

Nokia N8: The Bits We Like The Best!

Most smartphones feature an integrated GPU, not so the Nokia N8. The reason for this isn't just games, either. The Symbian ^3 operating system has been written to take advantage of the powerful GPU, and because of this the processor doesn't need to be quite so fast.

As a result, Symbian ^3 runs incredibly smoothly, with quick responses and very little lag in evidence. It doesn't seem to be at the cost of battery life, either, as we've managed to get up to three days of use from the Nokia N8 – still with 3G turned on and occasionally using Wi-Fi – so it's easily among the most frugal of touchscreen smartphones.

And, of course, the dedicated graphics chip does allow you to play games like Need For Speed Shift Symbian – an incredibly looking racing game that wouldn't look out of place on a dedicated gaming console. Look out Sony PSP!
