Nokia N8 Vs Apple iPhone 4: The People Continue to Speak!

Ever since we first compared the Nokia N8 and the Apple iPhone 4, you guys have been leaving hundreds of comments with your thoughts. We've been keeping track of the debate – join us after the cut to find out more...

The Nokia N8 vs Apple iPhone 4 debate is one of the hottest out there, with passions running high and loads of opinions flying round.

Nokia N8 Vs Apple iPhone 4: The People Speak Again!

We think the Nokia N8 is the better handset, but we asked NokNok readers for their opinions, and hundreds of people have responded.

Reader Adz points out that the Symbian ^3 operating system is “a piece of technology to learn how to use, not a toy”, and goes on to point out that “kids buy iPhones, teenagers/students buy HTC and adults buy Nokias” - a theme we've seen more than once among the comments.

Bruce is happy to point out ten reasons he'd buy a Nokia N8, and asks: “can you Apple/Android fans show me another phone that can do those for me?”

Rather than splitting all the comments across several pages, however, we've put them all in our Nokia N8 Vs Apple iPhone 4: The People Speak Again! article, and we'll be updating it every week. So check it out, and join in the debate – we'd love to hear from you.

I just got my silver N8, and have to say…this is one of the best phones I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning. An iPhone is flashy, but an N8 is functional, as well as looking much better (IMO)

Nice debate, though that “Adz” guy is talking utter nonsense, iPhones are the most expensive phones on the market I’ve never seen a kid with an iPhone(think you’re confusing iPod Touches there as they do look similar, newsflash, they aren’t phones), that’s just typical fanboyish ranting with zero basis in fact. Nokia is so fantastic that they’re going to cut 1800 jobs soon, wa-hey no mention of that on this site, anybody who blindly supports Nokia, or for that matter Apple, is an absolute idiot quite frankly, it’s just another corporation losing market share on a daily basis. I doubt this’ll get past the “admins”, but who cares. This isn’t journalism, the majoity of the people who visit this site are Nokia fans, so duh, we’ll get Apple bashing. The only good thing about this is the total underestimation of Android, 5 years time, Symbian will be dead, trust me on that.

I was saving for this phone with much anticipation…
Every tech review is saying the same thing.. amazing hardware, software and OS a big letdown.

Last review this time in OZ ends off…

“The Nokia faithful seem determined to defend Nokia phones, because they’re accustomed to Symbian’s foibles, but Symbian^3 just doesn’t cut it in the modern smartphone world – even with its multimedia prowess. Defending the Nokia N8 is like turning up at the Monaco Gran Prix in a horse-drawn cart and claiming you’ve got the best vehicle because the leather seats are so nice.”

Nokia N8 is much worth buying the the iPhone4,you could easily buy two N8s an just buy one iPhone4,software brilliant on the N8 an Camera an Speakers Superb, you can do more things with the N8 as the iPhone4 would struggle to compete, the N8 is really showing that Nokia are really catching up now with the others an are back on track now

The OS is usable enough and with the shift to Qt modular improvements will be released as they become ready.

As for the so called ‘modern smartphones’ the Desire HD has a battery life of 8 hours making it functionally useless and the iPhone 4 has a fundamental design flaw where you can bridge the aerials and drop signal. Call me when those ‘modern smartphones’ can actually manage the business of being mobile phones.

A clunky UI I can live with. A phone that doesn’t last a day or drops call if you hold it the wrong way I can’t. Software can, after all, be improved, hardware your stuck with.

This is the first time that I get the information of Symbian(actually, I’ve know nothing with it now!) about the mobile os of Nokia. Before of this, I think that the android is the mobile os of all smartphone except the series of iphone, ios give me an professional impression, after reading the article providing by ifunia.

For your information, I personally have been a Nokia fan for many years. I have been researching a phone for myself for work purposes. I haven’t yet decided which way to go but I am leaning towards the Desire HD. I refuse to get an iphone with all of its flaws. I love the camera in the N8 but not much else. I love the look of the Desire HD but will wait until I have played with one. Please do not judge a nokia fan by your own experiences. I like Nokia and always will like Nokia but I need a phone that will suit my purposes long term and I am not sure this phone will do it for me. thanks

I think Nokia N8 is upcoming best for Nokia fans, but still Nokia should have given a thought on open source OS. However Only nokia can give a real multimedia phone.
All enjoy the nokia…cool device to hang out with…
