Nokia N8 Vs Apple iPhone 4: The People Speak Some More!

Ever since we first compared the Nokia N8 and Apple iPhone 4, we've been asking NokNok readers for their opinions. The response has been brilliant – with over 20 comments a week. To find out what our readers think – and to join in the debate, read on after the break...

We've been asking for your feedback over the past couple of months– we think the Nokia N8 is leagues ahead of the Apple iPhone 4, but what do you think?

With hundreds of comments, and a healthy debate growing on a daily basis, we're keeping track of all the comments in one place – our Nokia N8 Vs Apple iPhone 4: The People Speak Again article.

Reader Adyuga thinks that “Nokia is by far the better phone than the iPhone”, for instance, after trying out both. He (or she) goes on to say that the Nokia N8 is “awesome”.

And, after offering a detailed analysis of the oposition, Adz also opts for the Nokia N8, stating:

“So which am I going with? Most likely the Nokia as I don’t want to be sat in work with wanna-be executives flashing their iphones about, or sat in the pub with my mates raving about the latest number of pointless android apps that have been released this week and how they aren’t conforming to the iphone masses by buying the HTC.”

So, whoever you agree with, and whatever you think, head on over to Nokia N8 Vs Apple iPhone 4: The People Speak, and check out what your fellow readers have to say. Better yet, leave a comment and get involved yourself – we'd love to hear what you have to say.

Little insecure aren’t we? What is this constant obsession with the iPhone from Noknok, being a tech geek I visit various Android and iPhone sites too, and there’s barely a mention of the N8. But on here it seems like you have a major Apple fixation, isn’t this like the 3rd or 4th article”trashing” the iPhone 4. It’s not that I don’t agree with some of the points made, I also believe the iPhone 4 has some flaws, but at the same time the N8 also has an “Amir Khan” type glass jaw, namely the over-priced Oi Store, and the lack of consistency throughout Symbian 3, it lacks the quality voice recognition of Android, the infinitely superior text input of both iOS and Android, poor web browser (it has flash, but so what? when it can’t even render a decent sized web page properly) no doubt the hardware is great.

The OS is horrible, and outside of the camera I don’t like much else. I still think the best phone Nokia have made in the last 2-3 is the N900, even though it’s one year old, Maemo is wonderful to use, a truly modern OS, the total opposite of Symbian 3 which is still stuck in 2004, I love the Firefox browser, sure the N900 has a “lesser” camera, but apart from that it knocks the N8 out of the park, plus you can get it for a lot less than the N8 and it’s upgradeable to Meego when that comes out. I’m not a Nokia hater, I just think the N8 is a poor device when it comes to software, it’s not a true “flagship” Nokia, as Symbian 3 is not even going to be used on future N-Series, which obviously shows it’s a second tier OS, I’d rather wait for the first gen Meego devices rather than be locked into a 18/24 month contract with the N8.

Thanks for the input Terry – it’s always appreciated.

We’re not ‘trashing’ the iPhone 4 – it’s an excellent device. As you can guess from the name of the site, we love Nokia stuff though, and the Nokia N8 is by far its best touchscreen smartphone to date (although like you I’m partial to a smartphone with a sliding QWERTY, for me it’s the N97 Mini).

The reason we keep bringing the comparison up, is because we’ve had so much feedback – and as with yours a lot of it is constructive, well thought out and makes for a fascinating debate. We’ve had literally hundreds of comments across all of the N8 vs iPhone 4 articles, and it’s obviously something our readers (and indeed iPhone 4 fans) want to talk about.

We like to give you guys the chance to have your say – be it good or bad – and so far it’s driven further debate. Thanks again for your thoughts!
