Auto Trader Mobile is an application version of Auto Trader's website, with thousands of used cars and bikes available to browse and buy.
Once you've installed Auto Trader Mobile, click Yes to allow connection to network, and the app will be able to retrieve listings on used vehicles from the internet. One of the big benefits of Auto Trader Mobile, is that it promises to let you call sellers straight from the application. That may seem like a small point, but it could be the difference between getting your dream vehicle, and missing out by minutes.
As with the Auto Trader website, you'll be able to select from pre-defined search criteria, with drop down menus for the vehicle make and model. You'll also be able to select the distance you're willing to travel, the minimum price and the maximum price.
An advanced search option lets you select other details – including the engine and transmission type, the mileage, private and trade sales, and the ability to search for key words.
Using your Nokia's hardware to the best of its abilities, the Auto Trader Mobile app can even use the GPS chip to determine your location – so you won't even have to enter your post code when selecting a distance.
Once you've entered all the details, simply click the large Search button at the bottom of the page. It takes a couple of seconds while the app retrieves data, but you'll then be offered a list of all the vehicles for sale.
There's a thumbnail photograph on the left, the exact model of car listed, a price and the distance from your location.
Click on one of the cars or bikes, and you'll be taken to the advert itself. Everything is well laid out, uncluttered and easy to read, and along with the seller's number at the top, there's also a button to 'Call Seller'. Tap it, and your Nokia will ring the seller without exiting the app.
Overall, Auto Trader Mobile is an excellent app. You're unlikely to use it a lot – unless you buy and sell cars for a living – but it is a lot quicker and easier than trying to navigate the web.
