Nokia to Make Apple iPad Rival?

Nokia may be best known for its smartphones, but that doesn't stop the Finnish manufacturer from making other form factors every now and again. There have already been Nokia tablets in the past, and according to several sources, Nokia could be considering another one. Join us after the break to find out more...

Nokia isn't new to the tablet form factor, with the Nokia N900's ancestors – such as the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet – providing a compact touchscreen device years before the Apple iPad hit the stores.

With the Apple iPad doing incredibly well, however, it looks like Nokia could be set to re-enter the tablet market, with a device of its own.

According to AME info, “the company is considering plans to produce a tablet device to rival Apple's iPad”, with Nokia Executive Vice President Niklas Savander stating “We are always eyeing what I would call the 'neighbouring businesses' to see if it would make sense for us to enter it”

Fingers crossed it happens! Would you like to see another Nokia tablet? Let us know in the comments below.

A MEEGO tablet with Qt UI and ATOM processor? That would certainly shake things up. By mid next year, the revised developer terms should also yield significant advances within the OVI store. I doubt Nokia is the only OEM to consider MEEGO for tablet use. The big difference, Nokia’s tablet will have access to OVI services.

May I place a bet that the next N9 would be a tablet using Meego, any takers?

Richard, I would take your bet but I think Nokia will class the N9 as a tablet anyway even though it is more of a phone and not going to be big enough
I would bet that a Nokia Tablet would look amazing just like the Nokia Booklet however I’m not sure that the software on it would be as good as the iPad. I also don’t think it would sell in the same kind of volume as the iPad. We will see though and I probably will buy it but they need to price this as aggressive as they did the Nokia 8 to enter the market and have people consider it when up against an apple product or Android one.

Hope Nokia do a Tablet to stop Apple getting all the publicity nowdays,as all Apple do is overprice there Products but this current population just like throwing there money,Nokia with Meego an Symbian4 blending together better show to the others that they have caught up with the Rest now an can compete in any department after the N8 success,so hope we get the Nokia Tablet soon or early 2011
