Ovi Life Tools Launched in Africa

Ovi Life Tools has proved highly sucessful in India, Indonesia and China. As such, Nokia has rolled out the service to Africa, where its hoped the app will help users with health, entertainment, education and agriculture information. Read on to find out more...

Initially, Nokia will be pre-installing Ovi Life Tools on Nokia 2690 and Nokia C1-01 handsets. Both phones sit at the most affordable end of Nokia's range, and will be available without a contract – which is ideal for those on tight budgets.

Ovi Life Tools offers a host of innovative and useful information, that has the potential to be life changing. It's possible to get information on crops, for instance, or the latest market prices. It's even possible to get information on diseases, or places that mothers and children can find care – both of which could be the difference between life or death.

Users of Ovi Life Tools will be able to tailor the service to their needs, entering their sex, age, location and other relevant information, in order to get the most suitable updates and information.

At present, according to Nokia Conversations, the service has a huge 6.3 million users across three countries. Ovi Life Tools is set to launch across Nigeria through two of the country's biggest operators – Zain/Airtel and Glo Mobile. It's expected to cost NGN250 – or about 1.25 Euros – for the Agriculture service, and NGN200 – or about 1 Euro – for the other features.
