Launch Absolute Radio and music starts playing instantly. As default, you'll get music from absoluteradio.co.uk, but you can also select from a host of other Absolute stations.
The menu works particularly well, and is a lot more finger-friendly and aesthetically pleasing than most other apps. The radio stations are presented on a carousel – simply swipe your finger left or right to scroll through them.
It looks fantastic, and on our Nokia N8 it responded with no sign of lag. Along with Absolute Radio, you'll find Absolute Radio 90s, Classic Rock, Absolute Radio Extra, and Absolute Digital Radio 80s.
Under the station carousel, there's a scrolling title bar, which lets you know the band and the title of the song playing. Under that, there's a control bar, letting you pause and adjust volume settings.
One of the best bits about the Absolute Radio app is that there's no reliance on getting a good radio signal - you don't have to plug in a pair of headphones as an antenna, and as long as you have either a decent 3G or Wi-Fi connection, you'll be able to listen to Absolute without fear of poor quality.
We really like the Absolute Radio app. It feels like a premium app to use – it's simple, looks great and couldn't be better in terms of simplicity. If you're on a limited data contract, make sure you connect via Wi-Fi, however, otherwise you may face hefty charges from your network provider.
