The Nokia C7 is an impressive all-round handset, but it seems like there's more than meets the eye. Along with all the regular specs – such as the 8-Megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, Nokia has also implemented an NFC (Near Field Communication) chip, a technology which will be activated in 2011. Join us after the cut to find out more...
We really like the Nokia C7 – it looks great, and matches the range-topping Nokia N8 in most areas yet also undercuts it in price. The Nokia C7 also boasts NFC technology, with a hidden chip inside the phone that Nokia is set to activate in 2011.
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a radio technology which allows devices to talk to each other securely, and could lead to wireless payments for services. This means you could swipe your Nokia C7 over a dedicated reader to pay for something – an Oyster Card, for instance, with the money then being taken from your bank account.
NFC is set to be activated in 2011, with the technology being turned on by a firmware update for the Nokia C7. What Nokia will use it for is still unclear, however, with the C7 said to boast both NFC technology for payment and reading tags.
What would you like to use NFC for? Would you use your Nokia C7 to pay for train tickets? Or would you like to see the technology implemented into shops? Or would you prefer to stick with credit cards and cash? Let us know in the comments below.
