It's been a little while since the Nokia C7 was announced, and we've seen quite a few reviews popping up on the internet. We love the Nokia C7, but what do other websites think? Join us after the cut to find out...
The Nokia C7 is Nokia's second Symbian ^3 smartphone, following hot on the heels of the Nokia N8. With an 8-Megapixel camera, 8GB of internal storage, Symbian ^3 and HD video recording, there's a lot to like, all wrapped up in a suave and slimline casing.
Know Your Mobile praised the Nokia C7, pointing out that it's a “very decent device”. The website went on to say that “Symbian ^3 runs fast and smoothly”, although “the camera lets this device down”.
Know Your Mobile also stated:
“The Nokia C7 is a well-featured Symbian^3 device, with little missing. The touchscreen is top, there's an impressive UI and operating system and with a decent camera this could be a stunning mid-range device from Nokia.”
Results from Tech Radar were mixed, with the website pointing out:
“Some aspects of the Nokia C7 are great. We like the good battery life; the screen is sharp and clear, if a little small; and there are plenty of apps on board. We find the three home screen system is perfectly liveable, and the camera and video playback are both well above average.”
On the downside, TR also stated:
“But Symbian^3 might not be enough to lift Nokia from its current popularity levels into the stratosphere. We feel that Nokia has tried to box clever by retaining much of the old S60 look and feel in order to prevent forcing a steep learning curve on existing fans. In doing so, it's constructed a new OS that is too close to its predecessor for us.”
On the Nokia C7, CNET points out:
“Our favourite thing about the C7 is its shiny steel case. It's slim, solid and comfortable to hold. The mirrored front is a fingerprint magnet, but, if you don't mind incessant polishing, then you'll benefit from a gorgeous phone that feels like it can take some serious knocks and tumbles.”
T3 also loves the hardware on the Nokia C7, stating:
“As for the device itself, the C7 is a lot shinier and curvier than the N8. There are a few different coloured versions available but the silver one we tested kind of looks like the bastard love child of an Apple iPhone 3Gs and a Blackberry Torch 9800 (without the slidey-outey keyboard). It’s lovingly crafted from stainless steel with a glass capacitive touch-screen and an AMOLED display with a reasonable resolution of 640 x 360.”
What did we think of the Nokia C7? You can read our full review here, but since we've had a review sample, it's become our main handset. Sure, it's not quite as capable as the Nokia N8, but it's one of the most stylish handsets yet. In our review, we also stated the following:
"Overall, we’re really impressed with the Nokia C7. It may lack the headline-grabbing camera of the Nokia N8, but if you’re on a tighter budget it’s nearly as capable. We also love the new design direction, with the curvy style and high quality materials sure to win the Nokia C7 lots of new fans."
