Fancy some shoot-em-up action, Nokia Ovi Store style? Double Trap is a challenging game of the rather less violent clay pigeon shooting. It's available now for free on the Ovi Store. Up for a game to test our hotshot firearms skills, we fired it up. Was it a direct it? Read our Double Trap review to find out.
Double Trap is hailed as a 'riveting experience' that supposedly traps you in the experiences of a professional shooter. We wouldn't go that far. If Double Trap has anything in common with the sport it's that the game is definitely challenging, even on the rookie mode. Certainly when using a touchscreen device. We played using a Nokia N97.
The controls are basic, yet still cumbersome. They compose of left, right, down and up directional arrows and a red fire button located to the bottom left and right of the screen. As clay disks fly into the air you must press down on the arrows to aim a cursor at the disks, before tapping the fire button to hit them using just one shell for each.
As we've just mentioned, pressing down on the arrows makes your cursor move, but it moves ever so slowly in comparison to the escaping disks. It makes notching top scores virtually impossible. Challenging? Yes, but it's absurdly difficult. It's makes for a frustrating experience more than anything else.
Overall it's a shame that Double Trap is let down by its controls. A bit of tweaking not just with Double Trap's controls, but its presentation too, and it could have been promising. Instead Double Trap is a frustrating experience.
