Nokia C7 Sees Price Drop

The Nokia C7 may be a brand new spanking Symbian^3 smartphone but you can now pick it up a whole lot cheaper SIM free than when it first popped onto the shelves. So if you fancy getting your hands on this slim and nimble little number, read on to find out more about the Nokia C7 price drop.

The Nokia C7 features a 3.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, which dominates the front of the handset. Made out of stainless steel, and with a glass touchscreen display, the Nokia C7 is a truly stunning smartphone. It offers the latest Symbian ^3 operating system – as with the Nokia N8 – and is packed with great features.

Where the Nokia C7 differs from the Nokia N8 is in the use of an 8-Megapixel camera rather than the whopping 12-Megapixel CCD of the Nokia N8. You’ll still find support for HD quality shots but the main benefit is that the Nokia C7 is a slimmer smartphone.

There seems to have been a Nokia C7 price drop over at Nokia Online, as you can now pick up this device for just £359 (inc. VAT) SIM free, which is a saving of £30 over the old price. We’re not sure if this is just a promotion or a long-term price drop but it makes the Nokia C7 even better value than ever before.

If you’re looking for a contract deal, you can still get your hands on the Nokia C7 for free for as little as £20 a month, which is good news, especially as there are a host of offers available.

The C7 looks nice and is the prettiest of the Symbian 3 lineup but I have never seen a phone with so many bugs! I have had the chance to configure a few of them and all of them have been buggy and unstable. The worst I have seen on any phone so far.

At this stage of the OS I would not recommend this phone.

Does the N8 and C7 both support NFC? Is it possible to upgrade N8 with the NFC chip later if not now? Also possible to upgrade to Symbian 4 when it comes?

  • Olivier

    @AT33: All Symbian^3 phones (N8, C7, C6-01) have the same OS:
so your saying all these phones are “buggy and unstable” ? LOL

  • Olivier

    @ Shiva: The N8 doesn’t have a NFC chip.

Hi guys, I’ve had C7 for more than a week now and I’ve had no problems what do ever! Its definitely recommended although the fixed focus
camera is a bit of a downer but I’m not into mobile photography and C7′s looks pleased me.

Actually OS is not unstable, don’t know why someone claims this to be the case. As usual, the early bird catches not always the most mature system, but this will be solved on PR1.1 update.
I remember my iPhone was horrible crashy and I couldn’t get, why I’ve read in the forums everywhere “it crashes from time to time, but it is soo cute…”.

It became much better on firmware updates later on, still I’m happy to use a rocksolid N8 now.

@Shiva: There is no Symbian^4. They’re just continuously updating Symbian now so the current phones will get any future updates. The old Symbian^4 plan was scrapped.

@AT33: I’ve not really come across any stinkers of bugs. The only one that gets me is a couple of websites crash the browser. I just used Opera instead for those.

Yes, that I learnt it somehow from Nokia and also regarding the QT framework. But am more curios on NFC. Would that be possible to add NFC in future in N8?

Nokia aren’t going to make a Symbian^4 but there are rumours that they are going to ditch Symbian altogether for the Nokia N9 and use MeeGo instead.
