Angry Birds simply has to be one of the best games ever made. The premise is so simple – just fire a variety of disgruntled chicklets at some pigs using a catapult, and get your eggs back. It can be incredibly difficult, and very rewarding when you get it right, leading to a 'just one more game' mentality.

Design company Penney Designs has been thinking about what Angry Birds would be like had it been created during the '90s, along with classic games like Lemmings and Worms.

Touchscreens weren't really in vogue, so the chances are you'd have needed to angle your bird using a D-pad. Although this could remove some of the directness, we could still imagine it being a lot of fun.

The graphics Penney Designs have come up with are also amusing, reminding us of the good old days! While everything is still familiar, a pixelated finish replicates older, lower resolutions, leading to a look straight out of yesteryear.

We think Angry Birds would still have been a classic – even competing head to head with Worms and Lemmings. Still, better late than never.
