Nokia N8: How To Sync your Calendar Wirelessly
We’ve already shown you how to use the calendar function on your Nokia N8, but it’s also possible to update entries using a computer, and sync them wirelessly. Join us after the break to find out how…
One of the great things about Nokia is that it offers a host of fantastic services – such as Ovi Suite – to make daily life easier. Ovi Calendar is one of the best bits, making it possible to update your calendar wherever you are – even if you don’t have your Nokia with you – and then sync wirelessly at a later date.
You’ll need an Ovi account to get started. Register for free at Ovi.com. Once you’ve done that, head over to calendar.ovi.com. It’s easier than ever to update entries using Ovi Calendar, but if you get confused check out our how to set up and manage Ovi Calendar guide.
Once you’ve entered upcoming into events into Ovi Calendar – or if you already have some in the calendar on your Nokia N8, you’ll be wanting to sync the two. Unlike a couple of years ago, there’s no need for cables – everything can be done over the air.
The easiest way to sync with Ovi is to create a widget for your Nokia N8′s home page. Check out our Nokia N8: Ultimate User Guide to see how to add widgets – you’ll need to add the one called Ovi Sync. Then, whenever you want to update your diary, simply click the Ovi Sync widget, and then press Synchronise.
If you don’t want to use widgets, you can also update via the menu. Click the menu button, followed by Settings and Connectivity. Then press Data Transfer, and finally Ovi Sync.
Once you’ve pressed Synchronise, the calendar in Ovi Suite and the one on your Nokia N8 should be the same. You can set it to update automatically, or simply carry out the sync process each time you update one of the calendars.
