Earlier this week, we compared the Nokia N8 with the LG Optimus X2. Although the LG stacked up well, we think the Nokia N8's little brother – the Nokia C7 – is a better rival in many ways. To find out why, join us after the break...
Camera.
The camera is the biggest area that the Nokia N8 strides ahead of the LG Optimus X2. The Nokia C7 is a more natural rival, offering a similar 8-Megapixel camera to the LG Optimus X2.
Memory
The mid-range Nokia C7 also matches the LG Optimus X2 when it comes to storage space. Both the Nokia C7 and the LG Optimus X2 offer 8GB of integrated storage, with both offering more via microSD cards.
Build quality and design
Although the LG Optimus X2 looks good, the square styling looks old and out of date when compared to the smooth design of the Nokia C7. The stainless steel highlights on the Nokia C7 also add a premium feel. That said, both devices are ultra thin, and promise to fit into pockets easily.
Screen
Picking the best screen depends entirely what sort of user you are. If you want a small and easy to carry smartphone, the Nokia C7 – with its 3.5-inch screen – is surely the better choice. The LG Optimus X2 is a lot larger, at 4 inches, and we'd be tempted to opt for the Nokia E7, complete with a full QWERTY keypad, if we were in need of a bigger device.
Graphics and processing
Just like the Nokia N8, the Nokia C7 boasts a dedicated graphics chip, and it's not just for 3D gaming. The GPU also handles the more intensive parts of the Symbian ^3 OS, helping it to react quickly and smoothly. The LG Optimus X2 may feature a dual-core processor, but we doubt everyday performance will prove much different to the Nokia N8.
Features
You'll also get some pretty neat features on the Nokia N8, that don't make an appearance on the LG Optimus X2 – such as the FM transmitter for playing back your favourite songs over the car radio. Nokia has also integrated Bluetooth 3.0 into the Nokia C7.
