Seen the Barclay Card advert on the TV, with a huge rollercoaster taking a chap right through the heart of New York City? It looks like fantastic fun, and there's now an app – Rollercoaster Extreme – for your Nokia N8 so you can check out the view from the hotseat. Read on after the jump to see what it's like...
Although we'd love to take a rollercoaster up and around New York City as much as the next man, we can imagine that planning permission for such an epic structure would be a nightmare.
Not to mention a blot on the landscape, ruining the classic skyline with a trellis of scaffolding and metalwork. Thankfully, we don't need the Americans to build it, as Rollercoaster Extreme brings the rollercoaster – and indeed New York – to the Nokia N8.
The app lets you ride straight through the heart of the city, bringing famous landscapes such as the Chrysler building and the Empire State Building right to your sofa.
It feels surprisingly involving, with the screen jinking left and right, up and down, as you hurtle through the West Side and other parts of NYC.
It's not just about sitting back and enjoying the view though, as you also need to collect energy to speed you on your way. Tilt the Nokia N8 left or right to reach out and grab energy as it flies by, making sure to duck to avoid obstacles. The faster you go, the more difficult it gets to avoid stuff, but it also gets a lot more fun.
Although not in the same league as apps like Angry Birds or Real Golf 2011, Rollercoaster Extreme looks fantastic, and it's great to keep an eye out for landmarks you recognise.
