The Nokia E5-00 is a QWERTY messenger smartphone running Symbian S60 3rd Edition OS that follows the same line of functionality as the Nokia E72. However, it comes with a far funkier design aimed not at the business user but at the busy social networker. Discover how 2010 played out for the Nokia E5-00 as we look at the year in review of this messenger device…

The Nokia E5-00 is very much a traditional smartphone that consists of a 2.4-inch screen that is non-touch sensitive. The sleek new design brought with it a host of changes, not just a new look, such as even smoother keyboard, while the battery life of the Nokia E5 – up to 25 days in standby – is bound to impress anyone who needs a killer battery life.

What’s more, with its large QWERTY keyboard and stunning screen, 3G/HSDPA for fast browsing and built-in Wi-Fi for home and office use, the Nokia E5-00 packs a mighty connectivity punch. The Nokia E5-00 first made its appearance back in April of 2010 and continued the theme of consumer Nokia smartphones coming in a host of colours – you can choose from Black, Blue, Pink, as well as a more standard Silver.

However, it wasn’t until August that the Nokia E5-00 made it into our hands. Even from the get-go we knew this was a major step away from the Nokia E72, commenting ‘The Nokia E5-00 may share many of the same points as the Nokia E72 on paper but when you have it in your hand the design is very much that of a more sophisticated Nokia C3.’

Key features of the Nokia E5-00 are its QWERTY keyboard, which is a pleasure to use, with the keys having a great feel to them and being highly responsive. Then there is the addition of a 5-Megapixel camera, which may not exactly be cutting-edge these days but for a mainstream device like this, it still represents great tech.

With email in clear focus for the Nokia E5-00, it’s great that you can also make the most of this device for staying in touch using social media apps, such as Facebook and Twitter.

The Nokia E5-00 is a great device to use. It feels reassuringly tough in the hand and the keyboard is a pleasure to use. If you already own a Nokia E72 it seems unlikely you’ll want to swift but for anyone looking for a great all-round QWERTY messenger, the Nokia E5-00 could well be the device for you.
