Remember the Nokia X3 that was launched back in 2009? It was the budget entry in the then brand spanking new X Series range. Well, in 2010 it took a little time to come but the Nokia X3 grew up and morphed into the Nokia X3 Touch and Type, which is a rocking hybrid of keyboard and touchscreen action in a new candybar design.
The Nokia X3 Touch and Type still has the entry-level price tag and this Series 40 phone is still aimed at those who want to mix music and messaging in one handy size. Mixing up a 12 button keypad and a 2.4-inch touchscreen, the Nokia X3 Touch and Type is something of a budget all-rounder aimed at those who want to make the most of Ovi services, especially messaging when out and about. When the Nokia X3 Touch and Type was first announced back in August and came as something as a shock, as we weren’t expecting Nokia to launch such a neat hybrid device. Fortunately, it only gave us pretty much a month before we got to see it in the flesh at Nokia World 2010.
Our initial reckon to the Nokia X3 Touch and Type was one of awe, as we commented at the time ‘Out of all the Nokia handsets we’ve seen in the past few months, the Nokia X3 Touch and Type is one of the most impressive, mixing Nokia’s excellent abilities to produce highly usable yet affordable smartphones, with a neat design and touchscreen display.’

Sure enough, when we got our hands on a fully working review unit, the interest continued, with our summing it up saying ‘we’re really impressed with the Nokia X3 Touch and Type. The alpha-numeric keypad takes a little getting used to, due to the location of peripheral keys, but aside from that the Nokia X3 Touch and Type is a great choice.’
The Nokia X3 Touch and Type is a great little handset that sets the entry-level bar high, as no one out there can offer anything as innovative for the price point as Nokia. So, if you’re in the market for a fully-rounded messenger then check it out.
