The Nokia C6-01 is a compact smartphone that makes the perfect upgrade for the Nokia 5800 or Nokia X6. The 3.2-inch touchscreen, durable design and use of Symbian^3 operating system combine to make it appealing and practical. But how did it get here? Read on to find out how the Nokia C6-01 came to be as we look back at the Nokia C6-01 in review…
The Nokia C6 started life back in May of this year as very much an upgrade model to the Nokia N97 Mini. The 3.2-inch screen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard and Symbian S60 5th Edition OS made it ideal for the mainstream market.
However, it didn’t take long for a new version of the Nokia C6 to emerge, leaked onto the internet in July via Nokia Netherlands own website. Known as the Nokia C6-01 it does away with the keyboard for a slim and neat profile but packs a whopping 8-Megapixel camera and Symbian^3 OS into the phone.
However, we didn’t get to see an official first sighting of the Nokia C6-01 until Nokia World 2010 in September. We managed to get a hands on of the device at the show and found it pretty good to use. ‘The blacks on the screen are indeed very deep, helping the display to blend into the black surround on the front of the Nokia C6-01 preview. ‘The rest of the Nokia C6-01 is also very nice. With a smaller screen than the Nokia C7, Nokia N8 and Nokia E7, it feels a bit more like a feature phone than a smartphone, and is a lot more pocket friendly as a result.’
The Nokia C6-01 is the first handset to feature Nokia’s CBD display. CBD is a spanking new technology and is something nobody else has. It’s Nokia’s “Clear Black Display”. It’s “blacker than black”, with unwanted reflections moved from the background, making it better in brighter conditions and even delivers better power consumption than current screen technology, making it very eco-friendly.
With so much to offer inside the Nokia C6-01, it’s interesting to see that it’s being touted as a budget or entry-level smartphone. Sure, it lacks the powerhouse skills of the Nokia N8 but for anyone looking for an everyday device then the Nokia C6-01 won’t disappoint.
What do you think of the Nokia C6-01, is it the most innovative smartphone you’ve seen in 2010, is there anything you’d change, if so what is it? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments below.
