Enter the time, and if you want it repeated – every day, for instance, or just at weekends, then enter that below. Nokia C7: How To Set Up and Edit Multiple Home Screens
One of the things we like about the Nokia C7′s new Symbian ^3 operating system is the ability to use multiple home screens. Add widgets, shortcuts and more across several pages, making your Nokia C7 a lot easier to use. Join us after the break to find out how to set up and manage your home pages…
Flick your finger to the right or left on your Nokia C7′s home screen, and the first thing you’ll notice is that there’s more than one home screen. There’s three in fact – a feature new to Symbian ^3.
You can set up any kind of shortcut for these different home screens – from icons to launching apps, to shortcuts and bookmarks to the internet. There are also loads of widgets available for the Nokia C7, letting you carry out social networking, stream video clips and much more.
To get started, either tap and hold down the part of the screen that you want edit, or tap Options and Edit Home Screen. As soon as you do this, the screen will become darker, and you’ll be able to move icons around and add more.
To remove an existing widget, simply tap it and then click Remove. It’s just as easy to add a replacement, or a widget to any of the other home screens. Simply tap on an empty part of the screen (indicated by a + symbol), and you’ll be taken to the Widget Catalogue.
There are loads of different widgets to choose from – if you simply want to add icons to launch apps then click on Shortcuts. Once you’ve picked your widget, click Done, or add another. To choose which shortcut launches which application, tap the shortcut widget, and press Settings. Then assign the app you want.
You can do this for all three home screens – press the button in the middle at the bottom to switch between the home screens when editing. Using this method, you can assign different pages for different occasions – a work home page, for instance, or one for your social networking and gaming.
If you’re confused about anything else, leave a comment below and we’ll try to write a tutorial for you.

Nokia C7: How To Change Your Wallpaper
Changing the wallpaper on your Nokia C7 has to be one of the easiest ways to personalise your handset, and you can also have different wallpapers for each of the three home screens.
To get started, click the menu button and open your photographs folder, and pick the photograph you want to use as a background. Open it up, and click Options.
Scroll down, and tap Use Image. It’s then just a simple case of clicking Set as wallpaper. Unlike previous versions of Symbian, Symbian ^3 lets you zoom into the imagine, so you’ll be able to choose the exact bit you want to use as a background.
You can zoom by pushing your fingers closer together or further apart on the screen. Once you’re happy, tap the screen, and press Set. Close the photograph, and you’re good to go. To change the photograph on one of your other home screens, simply flick to the next screen by swiping right or left, pick your photograph, and do the same again.
If you already know which photo you want to use, and it doesn’t need editing, you can also switch pics quickly from the home screen, by pressing Options, Change Wallpaper, Image and then selecting the image you want. You won’t be able to zoom in or out if you change the image this way, however.

Nokia C7: How To Transfer Photographs
If you’re still getting to grips with your Nokia C7, you’ll be wanting to know how to transfer photographs from the phone to your computer. There are several ways to do this, and all are relatively simple. Join us after the break to find out how to transfer photographs…
One of the bits we like the most about the Nokia C7 is that it offers loads of options. There are several different ways to get your photographs from the Nokia C7 to your computer, for instance – making it easy to find a way that suits you best.
Without a doubt, the easiest way of transferring your photographs in one go, is to plug your Nokia into your computer using the micro USB cable. If you’re running Windows 7, the Nokia C7 will be recognised automatically, with a pop up window letting you carry out different tasks.
Simply pick a program to transfer your photographs – we used Windows Live Photo Gallery – and click ‘Import Pictures and Videos. Job done!
If you want to share your snaps with other people, it may be worth copying your photographs to a memory stick instead of your computer, using Nokia’s new USB on the go technology. Plug the USB on the go cable (which should be in the box of your Nokia C7) into the micro USB port on the side of the device.
Then plug a USB memory stick into the cable – as soon as you do so Nokia’s file manager should pop up automatically. As default, the photographs will be saved on the E: (Mass Memory). Click on this option, and your photographs should be in the Images folder.
If you only want to copy a couple of photographs, open the Images folder, followed by the Camera folder, and find the folder you want to copy – as with a regular compact camera, your Nokia C7 will create a new sub folder every time you start taking a new set of photos. Tap the folder you want to copy (tap Images if you want to copy everything) and hold. After a second or two, another menu will pop up, letting you copy the folder. Simply select your memory stick, and wait for the photographs to copy.
If you’re just transferring a couple of photographs at a time, and your computer has Bluetooth, it’s also possible to send all of your photographs wirelessly. We’ll be bringing you a guide on setting up Bluetooth on your Nokia C7 next week – so make sure you bookmark our Nokia C7 Ultimate User Guide, and let us know if there’s anything you’re confused about.

Nokia C7: How To Improve Battery Life
Like its Symbian ^3 siblings, the Nokia C7 is an impressive all-round smartphone, but with a few tweaks you can make it even better. One way is to improve the battery life – so you’ll be able to use it for longer without needing to be near a power point. Join us after the cut to find out how to improve the battery life on your Nokia C7…
There are lots of ways to make Nokia smartphones last for longer – from dimming the screen to turning off Bluetooth – but you usually have to change all the settings manually.
Things have changed a lot with the Nokia C7 and Symbian ^3, which includes its own Power Saving Mode. Simply click in the top right corner of the home screen, then press the battery icon, and click Power Saving Mode.
This automatically dims the screen on your Nokia C7, along with changing the network coverage from 3G to GSM. Using a 3G connection takes up lots of power, and unless you’re browsing the internet it’s not actually required.
This should make a huge difference to the battery life of your Nokia C7. It’s also worth checking that both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are turned off. You can do this using the Connectivity screen – again click the top right corner of the screen, but this time select the two arrows rather than the battery.

Nokia C7: How To Use Ovi Maps In Offline Mode
Ovi Maps is one of the best apps you can get for your Nokia C7. You can make it even better by downloading the maps before you set off, so you won’t even need an internet connection when you travel. This way, you’ll save money when abroad, and not run the risk of losing your signal and mapping when you need it most. Join us after the break to find out how to use Ovi Maps in offline mode on your Nokia C7…
Although it usually makes sense to use a phone connection when navigating with your Nokia C7 – with the ability to get the latest traffic updates and information on local services – there are times when offline mapping is a necessity. Even if you get a contract with unlimited data, you’ll usually pay a heavy price for downloading map information when you’re abroad, for instance.
With Ovi Maps 3.6 – the latest version of Nokia’s premium sat-nav service from the Ovi Store – you can now download full maps straight to your Nokia, whenever you’re near a Wi-Fi connection. You can choose maps by country, so if you’re going on holiday you can set yourself up before you head off.
To get started, make sure you’ve downloaded Ovi Maps 3.06 from the Ovi Store. Earlier versions of Ovi Maps don’t let you download full mapping from your Nokia C7 itself – you’ll have to download them to a computer instead, and then install them separately.
Start Ovi Maps 3.06, and click the Update icon. You’ll then be taken to a screen that lets you click ‘Add new maps’. You can select maps by regions, and then choose from specific countries.
The maps are large in size – downloading maps for the UK as a whole takes up 245MB, for instance – so you’ll need a Wi-Fi connection to download. Even so, with a fast internet connection, you can expect your chosen country to download in a couple of minutes. Once your map has downloaded, you’ll have to wait a while for the map to install. Once that’s happened, you can either download more maps, or carry on. Click Menu to carry on.
Now you’ve downloaded a map for your area, you can select offline mode. Click the Settings icon at the bottom left of the menu. Then click Internet, followed by Connection, and Offline. Click Back, and Menu, and Ovi Maps should now work without the need to download map details as you drive.

Nobody wants their ring tone to go off in the middle of the cinema, for instance, and it’s equally frustrating when you forget to turn the ring tone back on again afterwards. Thankfully, it’s easy to set up and use profiles on your Nokia C7, with a host of different ways to control them.
The most simple way of accessing your Nokia C7′s profile menu is to tap the Power button on the top. Instead of holding it down, just tap it once, and you’ll be offered a host of different profiles to choose from.
This lets you change the profile quickly, so is perfect if you’re heading into a meeting. The Nokia C7 also lets you edit profiles, however, which is more useful for long-term users.
There are two ways to edit a profile. One is to use the Time/Date widget on your Nokia C7′s homescreen, where the active profile is displayed under the date. Click on that, and again you’ll be offered a choice of profiles, but at the top you’ll also find ‘Edit active profile’.
Clicking this lets you edit every aspect of the profile – from call and message tones, to call vibration, to email alerts, to touchscreen vibration. You can even create an entirely new profile, combining your favourite settings.
If this doesn’t offer enough personalisation for you, you can also access profiles through the menu. Click the Menu button, and tap Settings. Then click on Profiles. Changing profiles this way offers a key benefit – the ability to time the profile.
Click the one you want to use, and then click Timed. Instead of swapping instantly to that profile, you’ll be able to time the profile so it expires at a particular hour/minute. This means you’ll be able to use your Nokia C7 on Silent – when in a meeting, for instance – with the device automatically switching back to General once you get to lunchtime.

Nokia C7: How To Use The Calendar
Symbian has always offered a great calendar feature, and the Nokia C7 is no different. Set up meetings, be reminded about them on a day and time of your choice, it’s the perfect feature. Read on after the cut to find out how to get the best out of your Nokia C7′s calendar…
There should be a calendar widget shown as default on one of your Nokia C7′s home screens. If it’s missing, check further up to find out how to add a widget. You can also open the calendar by pressing the menu button, and clicking Calendar.
By default, the widget shows upcoming events, informing you what the next couple of entries are. If you click on it, it’ll take you to the day where you next have an event planned. It’s easy to change the view of the calendar – simply click the icon on the right (it has the number 12 on it) and you’ll be able to switch to Month, Week or To Do views.
Although you’ll always be met with a day view if you open the calendar from the widget, it’s possible to change the default view for the app itself. This means you can open it in month view, for instance, whenever you launch the app from the main menu. To change the default view, click on Options, Settings, and make the changes that suit your needs.
If you want the calendar to open in month view from the home screen, you’ll need to set up a shortcut. This is also easy to do – again have a look above to find out how.
Adding an entry to the calendar couldn’t be easier. Simply click the big icon on the left – it has a little rendering of a pencil on it, and you’ll be able to create an event. You can name it, set the time, location, you can even set an alarm days or months in advance.
If you want to create an event on another day, simply select month view and click the day, or tap the right or left arrows to navigate to another day, and enter a new event.
You can also update your calendar using your computer, and it’s possible to sync wirelessly using Ovi Suite. Check back here in the next few weeks, as we’ll be bringing you full updates on how to get the best out of Ovi Suite.

Nokia C7: How To Use The File Manager
Keeping track of all your files on a Nokia C7 can prove a little tricky, with loads of storage space available. That’s why Nokia has included a file manager, and it’s also easy to search for photographs, videos and music. Join us after the cut to find out more…
If you’ve copied a file to your Nokia C7, you’ll be wanting to know how to find it once it’s on the phone. The easiest way is to add a file manager widget to your home screen.
Simply add a shortcuts bar to an empty section of one of your Nokia C7′s home screens – check out our Nokia C7 Ultimate User Guide to find out how – and then select Application and File Manager from the settings.
File Manager appears as a little filing cabinet icon, and is easy to use. It shows you exactly how much space you have left on your Nokia C7, and there’s also a backup contacts option.
Tap one of the different types of memory – from Phone Memory, to Mass Memory, to Memory Card – and you’ll be able to see all the different folders and files. Nokia C7: How To Reset Factory Settings
One way of sorting out issues on your Nokia C7 is to reset the phone, switching the software back to factory settings. You’ll have to install all your apps again, but it’s worth a try. To find out how to reset your Nokia C7 back to factory settings, join us after the cut…
If you’re having trouble with your Nokia C7 – perhaps you’ve installed the latest firmware and it doesn’t agree with one of your apps, for instance – and want to take a step back, it’s worth considering a software reset.
It’s possible to change all the settings back to how they were when your Nokia C7 rolled out of the factory. Before you do this, you should back up all of your files, photographs, contact details and anything else of importance – as the phone will be wiped completely clean.
Once all your files and details are copied safely onto your laptop or computer, click on Menu and then Settings. Then click on Phone and Phone Management.
From here, click Factory Settings. There are two options – Restore and Delete Data and Restore. Restore will turn all your settings back to how they were originally – it’s worth trying this option first just in case, but if you still have problems it’s worth deleting data as well. Make sure your phone is fully charged or plugged in, as you don’t want the handset to turn off halfway through the reset.
Once you’ve started the reset, the phone will restart and it’s a simple case of waiting for your Nokia C7 to do its stuff. It takes quite a long time, and you won’t be able to use the phone at all while it’s resetting. As said above – make sure you back up all your files before starting the reset.

Nokia C7: How To Make Video Calls
The Nokia C7 is an impressive all-rounder, but it’s also good at really simple tasks such as video calling. To find out how to make a video call on your Nokia C7, join us after the cut…
The ability to make video calls has been available on Nokia handsets for years. If you want to make a video call on your Nokia C7, it’s easy.
You’ll need to have a friend with a phone that features a front-facing camera, for a start. They’ll also need a 3G handset – as older 2G networks don’t support video calling.
To get started, click on the name of the person you want to have a video chat with. If you know from the start that you want to have a video chat, simply choose Video call rather than Voice call. The Nokia C7 also offers the option of switching to a video call once you’ve already started talking to your friend.
To do this, pick Voice call, and once it’s ringing, click Switch to video call. As long as your friend’s phone also supports video calls, your Nokia C7 will automatically switch to video calling – letting you see the person you’re talking to, and using the speaker to offer a hands-free experience.

Nokia C7: How To Set Up A Voicemail Account
One of the first things that’s worth setting up when you get your Nokia C7 is the voicemail account. In most cases, the number will already be pre-installed on your phone – bring up the dialer, press and hold one, and your C7 should ring voicemail. If this isn’t the case, you’ll need to manually insert the number. Read on to find out how…
If the voicemail number isn’t automatically stored in your Nokia C7′s phone book, you’ll have to enter it manually. There’s a little more to it than just adding the number to the phone book, however, as you’ll also want to be able to access the number by simply pressing and holding ’1′.
Click the menu button, followed by Settings. Then click Calling, and Call Mailbox. From here, it’s a simple case of entering the phone number for your network’s voicemail. If you don’t know the number, head over to your phone company’s website. Use the search function, and look for ‘voicemail’. If you have trouble, try ringing your network provider – they’ll be happy to let you know the number.

Nokia C7: How To Turn Off The Vibrating Screen
Just like the Nokia N8 and other Nokia smartphones, the Nokia C7 offers a haptic feedback feature, with the screen vibrating gently each time you press it to let you know your actions have registered. It doesn’t suit everybody, however, so if you want to know how to turn the vibrating screen off, then join us after the break…
Turning your Nokia C7′s haptic feedback function on or off is as easy as pressing a couple of buttons. It can all be done straight from the homescreen profile function in a couple of seconds.
If you have the time and date widget on your homescreen, click on the profile box to the right, and then click Edit active profile. If you haven’t added this widget, you can also access the profile function by pressing Menu, Settings, Profile and clicking a profile you want to edit. Then click Personalise.
Once the Profiles box pops up, scroll down, and look for Touchscreen vibration. You can select different levels of vibration – with the phone vibrating more or less depending on the number. You can also turn the feature off altogether.

Nokia C7: How To Use The Music Player
The Nokia C7 is a great all-rounder, and it’s easily capable of replacing your MP3 player. Copying music across couldn’t be easier, and accessing your favourite albums from the music player is also a simple task. Join us after the break to find out everything you need to know…
Using your Nokia C7 as a music player is one of the easiest things you can do. Simply plug it into your PC using the USB cable, select Mass Storage and copy all of your albums across to the mass memory or your memory card. If you’ve got a microSD card adapter, it’s also easy to copy music by taking the card out and copying your files across straight onto that.
There’s no complicated menu system to use – all of your songs will automatically be added to the Music Player’s library. To get started, click on Menu, and Music Player. Your albums will all show up in a list – using album art if you copied across the right details as well.
You can view the albums by album art rather than details – simply tilt your Nokia C7 on its side, and the covers will get a lot bigger. Flick a finger to the right or left to browse through the albums.
Once you’ve opened a song you like, you’ll see pause and skip buttons taking up the bottom of the screen (or the right-hand side in landscape mode). If you’re playing an album, simply click on skip to go through the different songs.
Clicking Back takes you back to the album list – and if you go to the top you’ll also see a Shuffle option. Click on Options and you’ll be able to create playlists, or pick music by genres. You can even go straight to the Ovi Store, to buy and download the latest tracks.
