The Nokia X7-00 looks like it may be the next Symbian^3 smartphone to be announced by Nokia and it came one step closer at the weekend as the first official-looking photos emerged with AT&T branding for the USA. The Nokia X7-00 found itself leaked last year with a heavy gaming emphasis surrounding it. However, over the weekend, the first photos, which look fairly official, emerged. Now, we already know the Nokia X7-00 has some fancy design elements, such as the four speaker grills around the sides – only two of which contain speakers – and the rather funky sharp edges that make the Nokia X7-00 a cross between the Nokia X6 and the Nokia N8.

The Nokia X7-00 tech spec is still pretty much under wraps but we know that it rocks up with an 8-Megapixel camera as well as a 4-inch AMOLED screen, akin to that found on the Nokia E7, along with the customary 360 x 640-pixel resolution.

The story was broke with the news that the Symbian^3 smartphone would be heading to the USA first, more specifically to AT&T. However, it later emerged that the Nokia X7-00, thought at the time to be getting a name change to Nokia Journey, never really got beyond the discussion stage. This means the official looking photos with the AT&T branding may well be mock-ups rather than final details of what the device will look and feel like.

We have no idea the current state of release for the Nokia X7-00, but we have to wonder whether the Nokia X7-00 will be getting an official unveiling at the Mobile World Congress in February?
