Ovi Store App: Clapperboard Review

If you use your Nokia N8 to make films on the go, taking advantage of the HD video camera, you may be looking for a little something extra for your movies. Clapperboard could well be the answer, letting you fill in the blank spaces in your films. Join us after the break to find out more...

Clapperboard lets you fill in all the vital information for your next movie – just like real directors do with their films.

You can enter the production, the director, the camera used, the date, scene and take – and it'll all appear on an onscreen clapperboard. Tap the clapperboard, and it'll even open and close like a real one.

So far so good. However, from the description on the Ovi Store, we were expecting Clapperboard to interact with our movies – providing the scene and movie information as and when required.

Instead, the app runs completely separate from both the video camera and the films stored on the Nokia N8. Sure, you can still fill in the information, but you'd have to jump between apps to show it, and there's no way of saving any of the information either.

If you wanted to show more than one scene on Clapperboard, for instance, you'd simply have to start again, entering all the information for a second time.

Overall, this app disappointed. It never feels like it has anything to do with the films we've created on our Nokia N8 – it's more just a small app with a single party trick, and one that gets boring pretty quickly.
