Bounce It!, available now on the Nokia Ovi Store, is one of those games that at first glance, looks like you should ignore it. It's also one of those games that you'll be glad you didn't. The point of Bounce It! is to guide a ball into a hole. But how you do so makes it a fun download. Read our Bounce It! Review to find out why...
When it comes to mobile gaming, more often than not, it's the simple ideas that work best. True to such notion is the charming playability of Bounce It! which we've been playing most recently on a Nokia X6. It's a touchscreen game. If you've got a touchscreen handset, and like playing games on it, do read on.
Bounce It! is easy to play, but challenging to master. A shiny ball is let loose in a colourful arena, of which there are 75 - yes, 75 levels - a pretty impressive caboodle for a game that costs nothing to download (if you get the free version, the paid for version, here costs £1.00). As the ball bounces around the screen you'll need to guide it towards its goal. Use your finger to draw lines to bounce the ball to it there.
Each line drawn represents a physical barrier for the ball to bounce off. It's a cinch to begin with, until later levels chuck all sorts of obstacles at you, including: platforms, strange black hole things that suck up your ball, forcefield equipped spheres and more, calling for nimble finger action. You'd be forgiven for thinking it's easy to begin with, and in turn tearing your hair out.
Presentation is reasonably neat throughout. The bright levels looked great on the Nokia X6 we played Bounce It! on. The only snag is the appearance of adverts on the free version, but in the throes of a gaming session, you'll barely notice them.
Bounce It! is addictive, fun and challenging (that's the holy grail right there). It comes well recommended, and It's free, so why not?
