If you were lucky enough to get a Nokia N8 for Christmas, and are looking at ways to get your laptop online on the move, then Joikuspot Light WiFi HotSpot is the perfect app. JoikuSpot has been around for a little while, but the latest edition is fully compatible with Symbian ^3. Join us after the break to find out if it's worth downloading...

JoikuSpot Light WiFi HotSpot is an app that lets you use your Nokia N8 to create a wireless network, acting as a modem and wireless router to connect your laptop to the internet, wherever you are.

This latest version of JoikuSpot Light WiFi HotSpot – version 3.1 – offers simple one-touch tethering, letting you connect to the internet without having to wade through different menus.

To get started, click Yes to allowing other devices to use the internet, and then click on the internet connection that you use when browsing the web on your Nokia N8.

As soon as you do this, JoikuSpot automatically creates a wireless access point. It automatically connects to the internet for you – showing up on your laptop's wireless adapter with the same name shown on your Nokia N8.

Click this device on your laptop, and you'll be able to browse the internet – no wires needed, no difficult Bluetooth connections, and no effort at all. To disconnect from the internet, simply click Stop – the app will then close your JoikuSpot access point.

Make sure that you're on a contract where data rates or tethering aren't a problem, however. If you're on a limited data plan, using your laptop to browse the internet could cause you to go over, and you may be charged to use it.

We were very impressed with JoikuSpot the last time we tried it, and nothing has changed there with Joikuspot Light WiFi HotSpot. It's easier than ever to use, fast, and a highly accomplished app.

This app is crap. No network security? Cant rename the network?

Why is for functionality on Andriod a crappy app on Nokia?

  • Jack

You know why Jane ? because its a paid app jackass.

    no pay, no play.

Don’t get it? oh wait, you are a jackass, am I asking for toooooo much ?

  • Jane

So you are a total idiot. It says in the article the app is free!

Can you not read? School system fail you?

It should not be an app, it should be in the OS

Nokia should develop (and test) a wifi hotspot as part of their o/s like iPhone4. JoikuSpot is heavy on batteries and connection is very unreliable.

    This app sucks.
I go on 3G (3G!!!) and it says connection failed!
