Nokia Mobile Phone Eaten By Crocodile, Still Works!

Whatever you think of their rivals, Nokia has always had one key advantage with its handsets – durability. Nokia phones have proved among the toughest you can buy, and the latest example sees a Nokia handset ending up in the belly of a crocodile, without ill effects! Read on to find out more...

We've always known that Nokia makes tough smartphones, having dropped our fair share of handsets over the years. In the past, they've continued working after being dropped in water, and our Nokia N8 even escaped unscathed after a 5ft drop onto concrete. None of our Nokia phones have ever ended up inside a crocodile, however.

Unfortunately, one rather clumsy tourist can't say the same, after dropping a Nokia handset while trying to take a snap of the crocodile. Thinking food was on the menu, the crocodile – a 14-year old beast called Gena – quickly snapped up and swallowed the Nokia.

We're not entirely sure why, but according to Into Mobile the tourist then tried ringing the mobile phone. Obviously there was no answer, as the handset was inside a prehistoric animal, but ominously for Nokia's rivals those present could still hear the phone ringing – it turns out some of the company's handsets are virtually indestructible!

From what we can gather, the crocodile actually came off worse than the Nokia - as Gena is said to be off food and staying away from other crocodiles for now. It's not the first time an animal has eaten a Nokia and come off worse, either, as a fish that ended up swallowing a Nokia 1600 (which also survived with no issues at all) would probably agree.

So if you want a device that can stand up to anything - including being eaten by crocodiles or fish, best opt for a Nokia! In the  meantime, we wish Gena a speedy recovery, hopefully he'll think twice before eating a Nokia again...
